Tsuba

Tsuba Tsuba (鍔 or 鐔?), is usually a round or square guard at the end of the grip of bladed Japanese weapons, like the katana, the tanto, or naginata. They protect the hand.


Tsuba are usually decorated, and nowadays are collectors' items. Tsuba were made by specialized craftsmen. Tsuba can be made in a variety of metals and alloys, including iron, steel, brass, copper and bronze.
