Description of Gedan yuke - lower level block
This block is designed against mid height strikes. The blocking hand comes down so the back of the forearm comes in contact and blocks the strike while stepping to the side. The block is designed to divert the strike. Care must be taken using this block as it leaves the face open for another strike therefore the direction in which the step is taken is important to the following actions.
