Ude Garame, reverse shoulder lock - Ninjutsu

By Yossi Sheriff

Ude Garame, Kimura, entangling the arm, (אודה גרמה, פריקת כתף בפיתול, בריח - נינג'יטסו), is a Joint lock. This technique applies pressure on the shoulder and is meant to dislocate it. This hold is very difficult to perform on its own- as a strong opponent will be able to avoid it. Therefore a preliminary strike should make it easier to accomplish. Once performed this hold gives good control over the opponent.

Description of Ude Garame - entangling the arm

This technique is performed by releasing the lapel with a powerful swift pull of the opponent's wrist downwards (opposite hand pulls- right hand pulls opponent's left and vice versa). This is followed by stepping to the side of the opponent (same side as the held wrist), stepping on his foot (right foot steps on opponents right if his right wrist is being held and vice versa) and holding the user's own wrist though the space between the opponent's hand and torso. Next, move to the back of the opponent while still stepping on his foot (preventing him repositioning) and bring his hand along his back- closer to the same hand's shoulder. This applies tremendous pressure on the shoulder which ultimately will dislocate it. This hold allows great control over the opponent as he is with his back to the user- who can choose to disocate his shoulder with hardly using any force.
