Over the last training session we were lucky to work with Yoni Ben Dor practicing rhythm and muscular strengthening of torso and abdomen. This time we will repeat the three basic Niradin breathing patterns and combine these with strenuous stepping over different heights.
Niradin is a deep movement system that enhances the combat perspective of the Ninjutsu in AKBAN. We practice every Friday at Gan Ha-Atzmaut hill, on the northern side, above the sea shore. These sessions are opened to all AKBAN members.
Two more Ninjutsu kicks will be learned inside the framework of sabaki in randori. The Kicks we trained with at the Tuesday session and advanced combos from last months will help us creating distance in striking ranges. Two more policemen holds will also be repeated.
The sessions will start with kamae followed by the himum. The session ends with Randori.
I upload selected Ninjutsu lessons to the Ninjutsu training category at the AKBAN wiki.
At both sessions we will work with static armlocks from standing position. We will work with kicks to pressure points and combine these with the combos we have been learning last weeks.
On the second, veterans’ session we will also analyse a Fudo ryu kata.
At the first training session we will work policemen holds, kicks and combos with these kicks.
At the second, veterans’ session we will quickly go over the material from the first session and then we will work with one kata and perform kata analysis.
The sessions will start with kamae followed by the himum. The session ends with Randori.

We will go over kicks that we rarely used this semester and combine them with the advanced combos we practiced last weeks. The second half of the session will be devoted to sitting techniques and their application in self defence situations.
The session will start with Ninjutsu kamae followed by the himum. We finish the session with full contact Randori.
A video summery of this session will be uploaded to Ninjutsu training in video category in the AKBAN wiki.
We will go over Koku no kata combos from last week and up the speeds and the timing requirements. Moreover, we will enhance ukemi work against the sutemi work we did.
I have been having a high temperature for two weeks
and I can barely get out of bed
or the couch.
The doctor gave it a complicated name
and then said “kissing disease, let’s wait for your temperature to go down”…
to my wife he said that there is no point to commit me to the hospital, nothing to do…
“Drink a lot and take antipyretics.”
When checking my neck he diagnosed enlarged lymph nodes and spleen, “the disgusting cough is part of the deal”, he said. And Dr. Noam, my AKBAN partner, said the same and added that I should watch my liver… he usually suggests that I’ll guard my head…
So..
So for two weeks I did not move, didn’t move at all.
I don’t remember such a state, not at the Lebanon war when I was buried in a bunker waiting for the Syrian artillery, not when I had my appendix removed, not when in randori my nose decided to watch the left side of my face closer, not when the board of directors fired me from my own company and I slouched for months.
Just did not happen.
So now a first time, can not move at all.
At evening time, yesterday, I started to train. It was a conscious decision out of the clarity of a high temperature. If one does not remember, the world looks like a hazy desert heat wave. The heat rises from the rocks, and rises and rises and then very quickly you find the puddle of the mirage.
So I took two pills knowing that the shivering and the puddle will follow soon.
This was one of the toughest training sessions. I do not want to compare it to anything but it was tough, very tough.
I took my socks off and stood in Shizen tai.
The most fundamental stance. I looked forward and placed my attention forward.
I breathed three times and started coughing real bad.
I spat.
I lay down again.
It was a good training session.
I did not manage to do one Tsuki, not one sabaki, no intricate kata.
This was Heart Sutra practice.
The mother of all victories.
We are continuing the practice of differentiation between torso breathing and diaphragm breading. We will combine this with intricate awareness hand patterns and steps.
