Talk:Double leg takedown
From AKBAN-wiki, the Martial Arts Database
Great content. Perhaps we need to separate this page?
Have two types of pages:
- technique page: which shows a single technique or a single variation. This page will have a video embed. For example, the each type of double leg take down should be a technique page.
A technique page should be devoted to exact and efficient implementation of technique.
- concept page: this type of page will not have video (maybe just one or two), it aggregates several techniques or several variations on the same technique or several counters. It tries to convey a concept. It aggregates several technique pages.
For example, the wrestling takedown may be a concept page. In this page we have links to the basic moves. The history, the usage, the hidden assumptions, links to the basic takedowns, links to their counters and so on. This is a more verbal page. Another example may be more specific. Ura Gyako is a technique page, but there can also be a concept page Ura Gyako, in the concept page, the idea of Ura gyaku is discussed, its history and heritage, links to several variations are provided, and links to counters, links to related concepts.

developing special pages
so maybe it can look like this:
three types of pages
- Technique page, just like the ones we already have, interconnected using the semantic wiki and tags.
- category pages, just like the ones we have, nestling inside each other so as to make certain hierarchies and indexes clearer.
- Concept pages, maybe something like this: Double leg takedowns - concept of.
{another thing, It would be nice if someone in wikiworld thought about creating visual trees out of categories...]
category tree
Actually this visual tree view exists its called Category Tree, I plan to install it tomorrow. See http://tools.wikimedia.de/~daniel/WikiSense/CategoryTree.php. This extension very popular, in fact it is also installed in the main wikipedia site. I hope it will be working in a few days. --Ittai 09:39, 4 December 2006 (CST)
category tree is installed
Here are several examples of usage
Writing
<categorytree> Budo Ninjutsu techniques </categorytree> gives the root category, you can press the "+" to expand any one on the list, try, for example, the "Blocks" since it has a sub category... :
Writing <categorytree hideroot=on> Budo Ninjutsu techniques </categorytree> gives the subcategories with out the root:
Writing <categorytree mode=pages> Budo Ninjutsu techniques </categorytree> gives all pages, try pressing the "+":
a bit of confusion created by category tree
if i am an inexperienced user i might be led to think that opening up a category without subcategories means that there are no techniques there. While actually it means that there are no categories.Yossi by the way, if you press three times this ~ you get your signature, i think its a good practice.
