From AKBAN-wiki, the Martial Arts Database
In Ninjutsu, evading an opponent's strike is primarily based on body movement Tai Sabaki. While moving, it is possible to counteract by, Blocking, Grappling or throwing. This is done to serve a general need to 'Validate' the opponent's strike. Specifically, Blocking is the act of physically deflecting the opponent's strike. Ninjutsu blocks can roughly be divided into hand blocks and leg blocks - Keri Kaishi. It is customary to practice the hand blocks with 'Heaven and Earth' drill. Blocks can be performed either 'from Outside' or 'from Inside', depending on the Tai Sabaki.
