Martial arts
From AKBAN-wiki, the Martial Arts Database
Martial arts are systems of physical practice based on movements that might appear in fighting.
Martial arts are practiced for many reasons but for most, the chief incentive at the begining years of practice is overcoming an opponent in confrontation or self defense. Martial arts differ from Combat sports and Martial systems by the addition of other reasons and insights to the defensive and utilitarian rolls. The cultural backgrounds vary between martial arts but some are influenced by religious and philosophical systems: Zen Buddhism, Taoism, and Shugendo are relevant examples.
The exact way the martial arts depicts the movements and the methods used to learn them vary greatly and might appear as dance like movements or sparring and competing.
