Description of the Gan seki nage Technique
Gan Seki nage is basically an under hook used to throw the opponent down. The opportunities for the underhook can be created in various ways, the basic way to create an opening for the under hook is to pull the opponent to his front Kuzushi, and use the pulling response of the opponent to insert the underhook under the armpit. Once the underhook is in place many throws can be performed as it is a good hold on the opponent even if he doesn't have a grabable gi. The easiest throw performed with the Gan seki underhook involves turning and throwing the opponent in Tai otoshi or Koshi nage.
