Description of the technique
Forward fist with the back hand. The "cross" punch is used by the strong hand (the back hand in a fighting stance- right hand for the right handed and the left hand for the left handed). The "cross" is a power punch and its aim is to knock an opponent out if used as a shot to the face (jaw) or to take the air from an opponent if used as a body shot. The simple motion of the arm is not enough for the punch to be effective- the movement of the shoulder and the pelvis are crucial for this punch to be both quick and powerful. In addition the heel of the same side should be a little raised from the ground to increase the turning of the pelvis. The "cross" moves in a linear route the same as the "jab" and therefore can be easily blocked or dodged if not used with good timing/right combination. The "cross" is a very powerful and very quick strike that when hits home will most likely knock an opponent out or at least leave him open for further assault.
