Kobudō

Kobudō (古武道?), is a Japanese language term meaning "ancient or old martial art". Inside Japan it mainly refers to martial arts founded and created in Japan before the Meiji restoration (1876). The scolarly term for these martial arts is Koryu.

In the west Kobudo generally means systems of martial arts that use weapons and have originated in the island of Okinawa.
