If you are a martial arts practitioner, beginner or veteran, interested in Self-defense, Krav Maga or traditional Martial arts, Jerusalem (ירושלים נינג’יטסו ) is a wonderful city to be at. The Israeli martial arts scene has developed since the early 1950’s into a bustling, multi disciplinarian scene.

Akban Martial arts and fitness academy was founded in Jerusalem in 1985 by Yossi Sherif; the Tel Aviv branch was founded in 1991. We are an experienced bunch with a diverse martial arts experience all revolving around old school Ninjutsu. Our instructor is a Bujinkan 5th dan and an uchi deshi of Doron Navon Shihan.

A great group of veterans comes to train every Sunday and Wednesday evening and at 6 PM and 8:30 PM. Beginners and veterans alike can enjoy our warm club hospitality; Renzo Gracie, on one of his seminars in Akban summed it up, he said: “I can’t believe it, it seems you guys are Irish…”. Yossi Sheriff, Akban’s founder teaches the Jerusalem classes since the beginning in 1985.

We take great pride in our openness and no nonsense attitude: Any martial artist can contribute to our pool and diversity as long as he is willing to work hard and remember our modest motto: “No shortcuts”.

Where in Jerusalem?

The Akban martial arts academy is located on the municipal Martial arts center, on the north entrance to the Tedi soccer stadium, near the Malha mall.

The Facility in Jerusalem is spacious with almost 220 square meters of training mattress, showers, fitness equipment and gym and rest area. The vicinity of the mountainous terrain and the jogging and mountain biking paths alongside the dojo make pre-training runs scenic. Many buses lines converge in the Malha Mall, and we enjoy our own parking.

Around Jerusalem Akban Dojo

The city center of Jerusalem is the hub of a bustling night scene: Bars, shops, restaurants and famous DJs enliven the new bustling atmosphere. The Hebrew university attracts students from all over Israel and also many young students from abroad. Sam Shpigel movie academy and Bezalel arts and industrial design contribute to the international feeling. Jerusalem’s mystical energy and antiquity contribute to the general atmosphere in the oldest Akban dojo in Israel where the same hardened veterans train since 1985. New trainees are welcomed to our dojo at all times.
