Virtual martial arts training with the Wii?

Maybe.
Nintendo, the Japanese creator of the motion sensing remote, revolutionized video games and provided the cheap means to combine motion sensing devices and virtual environments.

Now, using the existing platforms, few scientists and companies are moving into the medical realm and are devising utilities that will teach Medical Doctors how to operate and use a scalpel.

On our field of expertise, Wii now provides the rudimentary abilities to practice boxing.

The day students will give up the Dojo and will practice against Bruce Lee and Sakuraba is not far away - it is here.
Can technology replace the community and the teaching environment? That is probably an open question, but virtual places have replaced many things that were unheard of only twenty years ago.

Karmit S. writes in the very deep and extremely serious AKBAN journal about women in martial arts in general and in the AKBAN Budo Ninjutsu school.

Not the most flattering perspective for our organization but we try to stay away from objectifying bodies and using gender differences as a barrier.

A martial art such as Budo Ninjutsu should lift itself to the most modern fitness trends.

So here's the deal, check out the new ninja kata, about 1:30 minute into the video.
We figure this should be the Kata the AKBAN organization will be adopting.

Please remember, Ninjutsu folks are always polite and happy.
Cheers.

Both Sean Sherk and Hermes Franca tested positive for drugs after their bout in the UFC 73.

While Royce Gracie chooses not to appeal after failing a previous drug test.

Gracie said that he would rather loose 2500 $US in fines and be suspended for a year (which is the standard Ruling in these cases) then pay 10000$ for lawyer fees.

Why is a martial art so dedicated to improvement and adaptation still adhering to old training methods?

Yep, they did it again, finally another layer of security is available now to martial artists who are deep into self defense stuff.
Link Simulation & Training's have came up with the Advanced Helmet Mounted Display or (AHMD).

That's right, wear an "AHMED" and feel safer.

For all Bujinkan practitioners, this is the ultimate 5th Dan gadget.

Us AKBAN veterans should just go ahead and buy it. I know I need one.

Donkey robot or Disco Dojo sir?

Summer heat is on the rise here in Israel and we look with amazement at two new developments in the martial arts field.

The first is Disco Dojo, a new fitness/martial arts style developed by Mr. Scott Cole, a Palm Springs-based fitness instructor. We at AKBAN had enough of eating dust for so many years that there might be a chance of us doing Disco dojo ourselves, only we thought about changing the name a little, how about Polka-ninja?

With time we will have robots doing all our martial art training! We will then probably contemplate the universe while watching reruns of Seinfeld.

Ran and Nadav from the Tel Aviv dojo have passed the tough 25 minutes of the Yellow belt exam.

Training in Budo Ninjutsu is great for beginners, our school has more then 20 years of experience in martial arts and we use the world's slowest fitness program allowing us the opportunity to get superbly fit and maintain it while getting better in our self defense and fighting skills

We really don't know how to say it nicely, but here it goes: our instructors cut no corners, it takes at least 12 years to gather the knowledge to the black belt test in our Budo Ninjutsu school.

We knew that the summer temperatures are high in this region, we knew Ninjutsu is easy to teach to animals, but we could not believe our fiendish plan would be discovered so soon.

The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) is reporting that squirrles equipped with hidden tapping devices are invading Iran...

We can just hope they will never catch our extreme ninja turtles.

The UFC mixed martial arts organization is getting nearer to mainstream American culture

The tough UFC MMA champion Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell is featured with his little son on the cover of ESPN, The Magazine.

Liddell has earned a place of honor in the martial arts world as a hard competitor in what is now becoming a cultural phenomenon - the entrance of Mixed martial arts into mainstream American and western media.

Liddle is valued both as a tough fighter and an honest, nice guy, the kind of sportsman the UFC chairman, Dana white is trying to promote.
It now seems certain, even with some critical opinions that MMA are here as a central feature of our western culture for years to come.

For us in AKBAN - trying to bridge the gap between ancient lifestyle and the adrenalin rush of martial arts sports - the job seems more interesting then ever.

Martial arts not much when compared to corporate armies

The Russian law makers, the Duma, have authorized the construction of private armies for the mega corporations of Gazprom and Transneft.
This is not global news as the equivalent armies exist now both in the United states of America and in several other countries.

This trend poses some worries for us individual martial arts practitioners. When money buys power there is less control over its exertion.

Our martial arts expertise does not mean much against a corporate, or any other, M16.

With the blessing of the AKBAN Budo ancestors, we welcome all those people from the martial arts community who can quickly say: "Balvenie doublewood-Whiskey-no-ice-NO ICE!" while pummeling with Eshel.

This time we will not pay bail so please don't forget to wear a sweater.

As we all know, newspapers can give you a real headache.
It seems that English football fans discovered this long ago, when police banned them from sneaking anything that resembles a weapon to the stadiums they came up with this ingeneous equipment, The Millwall brick.
For us martial arts practitioners there sure are some Hebrew newspapers that pack a better punch.

Few veterans started writing text to the visuals. This is an ongoing process and more layers of meaning will probably added in time to many martial art styles. Here are the efforts of
Ittai
Ariel
Daniel
and Yossi

Registering and adding insights and knowledge to this vast database is free and open.

The combat savvy and experienced community of AKBAN has opened up its videos and knowledge for all martial arts styles, Ninjutsu and Budo Taijutsu included.

Martial arts techniques, hundreds of throws, kicks and punches plus weapon kata are arranged in an easy order, for you to learn and be a better fighter.

Effective and accurate training in martial arts is our goal. Even though we think it is not recommended to learn online exclusively, our immense, free, AKBAN-wiki can add to your practice and give better, more effective skills in self defense and martial arts.

Training in Ninjutsu and other martial arts styles for many years has taught us this secret Ninja lore, we know: "There is no substitute for a qualified teacher and a Dojo." And we know this too: "Only by continually learning, practicing and exchanging we can be better human beings, better warriors."

Use this as a reference to gauge your own performance, or simply take a look at the foundations of a style different from your own.
